Old Ways

Hello to all my faithful readers (betsy).

I just realized how condescending some of my posts were becoming.  This was not a conscious decision.  Let me explain.

I grew up in a very condemning church.   It wasn't always that way, but it became that way at the end of my time there.  This preacher came in for a few years, and he would beat you to crap with the Bible until you felt a little lower than dirt!  I knew the God he preached and the God I read about in the Bible were not the same.  But stuff has a way of slowly seeping into your brain and you don't even realize it.

Thus, my dilemma.  I have a decent understanding of grace and righteousness through Jesus, but some of those "old ways" still linger in my brain.  If you were told all your life that the green light at traffic light means 'stop', your brain would still revert back to that thinking ever so often even after you learned that 'green mean go' and 'red means stop'.

I think that's why accountability is so important.  If you start to stray or go a little wayward, someone is there to head butt you back into the right direction.

Jean, I like the way you are thinking. It does take time to detox the mind and soul. Obviously God is helping you grow and the fruit of the Word is coming to maturity in your life. Keep pressing on my friend. The Word of God will "renew" your mind. Stay in the Word. We love you guys.
